Side braid

Braids are our go-to hairstyle! So easy and quick but makes you look put together (which is our motto in life ha). For this braid (more braid posts to come) you can do it on either medium or long hair but our short haired friends might want to skip on this one. This braid requires your hair to be pulled all to one side, so for short haired people pieces of hair will just keep falling out from the side where there is no braid. This also applies to anyone who has short layers in their hair which Jess had and again the braid just kept falling apart ha :)

STEP 1: Put all your hair to one side.

STEP 2: Take 3 small sections at the root of your part.

STEP 3: Then dutch braid your hair with those 3 sections. The key to doing a dutch braid is bringing the pieces to the middle by going UNDER the sections of hair not over! Add in a small chunk of hair to every outside piece that you bring to the middle. Once you get to your ear you should have all of your hair in one of the three sections so that your last half of your braid is just one big dutch braid without having to add any hair to it.

STEP 4 (The most important step!!): Pull out pieces of your braid to make it look chunkier and fuller. Even if you have thin hair this trick works wonders! Be gentle with pulling out the loops on the braid though - too much pulling can make it loose and fall out.

THE PAIR-ADIGM SHIFT

Growing up in a Christian home and being raised in the church, I have no reason to doubt this verse or any verse in the bible for that matter. That's because I've seen the promises of the Bible alive in my life and have experienced who God is for myself. I recognize that not all of you have the same history as Jess and I do (Jess was raised very similarly to me). So to some of you that verse might just be a nice quote that is cute and lovely but it holds no truth for you. I get that. How can you trust that a God out there loves you and will never quit on you when you don't even know if He exists. I wish I could write out the exact way you can experience God so that you will know for sure He exists. But I can't. It is different for all of us. God knows us so well and will meet you where you need to be met according to your personality, life situations, goals, etc! He is a personable God. He made you so He knows you better than you know yourself! All I can tell you today is to take one step. One step closer to God. Maybe you've been fighting it your whole life and you're feeling the emptiness and trying to fill the void with everything but God. Maybe you've walked away from God. Maybe you've wondered about Him but never pursued. Whatever your situation, just take one step and see what God can do with that. That one step can be many different things - praying, going to church, reading the bible, talking to someone about your faith, etc. God will never give up on you so take one tiny step of faith and let Him in so that He can show you how amazing His love and faithfulness is.
